Article expansion[edit]

I expanded this article as best as I could considering the lack of information available on the web in English for this individual. Many of my references are admittedly less than reliable. Anyone who can read Japanese might consider beefing up this article with some stronger references. Marchijespeak/peek 03:37, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious tag re: the date the Nagaharu Yodogawa Award was created[edit]

I have tagged the date in the article as dubious because the only reference I could find to that date was a blurb found on a few blogs such as this one mentioning the fact that Ken Watanabe one the 15th Nagaharu Yodogawa Award in 2006. Marchijespeak/peek 03:37, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Birth date discrepancy[edit]

I added the infobox to include a photo I found of the subject through the japanese wiki ja:淀川長治. However I noticed there was a discrepancy in the birth dates. In the japanese wiki it is April 10, 1909 whereas in the english wiki it is April 12, 1909. Online I found support for the April 10 date with this source however I cannot assess their accuracy. As I cannot read japanese, I do not know which source the japanese wiki used. As the english article cites, the April 12 date was verified using the James Kirkup source. Although the policy for adding dates in the infobox explicitly states that exact date should not be used with disputed dates, I decided to go ahead and put the April 10, 1909 date and allow more experienced editors decide what is the best course to pursue. My reason here is that I assume the japanese wiki is more privy to information on notable japanese people and so a benefit of the doubt is given to the accuracy of the April 10 date. Hopefully someone who can understand the japanese writing will be able to sort through this confusion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kjmonkey (talkcontribs) 01:44, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead and changed the article to state the Apr 10 date as well. I had a hard time creating this article with what little I could find in English and I also tend to give the content of the article on the Japanese Wikipedia more weight than the one English article I found.
