Auditions[edit]

Auditions do not need to have a section in this article. All audition information for any series of MKR can be placed in the main My Kitchen Rules page. The individual series pages will focus on the progress of the competition and its teams only. Unlike X Factor, the auditions are not an active part of the MKR comp. For X Factor, it is appropriate for an auditions section because this is televised and is a vital part of the full competition. Thanks

Elimination History table.[edit]

For this series, I'm suggesting that we put forth a simplified table, which takes up less space and fits well on the page. Series 4 was a big series and the amount of info to fit onto a table for the page was quite difficult and many users found it hard to follow and read. Therefore for series 5 I'm proposing a few changes to be made so that the table is easier to navigate.

  • 1. Remove the overlap of information. A colour cell and its key will speak for itself, so therefore its best to remove the words 'Sudden Death' and instead just list the score the team obtained.
  • 2. Peoples Choice to P. Choice or anotehr abbreviation - saves space again the colour key can be used as supporting information.
  • 3. Removal of 'pts' abbreviation and list scores only. An additional note is added to the colour key that indicate the numbers in brackets are the scores obtained.

This season also introduces the Food Truck, we don't know how this will work yet so until we know its place in the competition, we will decide whether to include or omit that part of the competition in the table.

Below is a sample table with coloured cells listed for a Sample Team. There are already more columns than there were from series 4 so you can see how much space is saved once overlapping information is removed. This table will eventually be placed onto the main page.

Colour key:
  – Team was the top scorer of the round or won People's Choice.
  – Team participated in a Showdown or must compete in an additional instant restaurant round.
  – Team won the Sudden death cook-off.
  – Team was eliminated after a round or lost the Sudden death cook-off.
  • Numbers in brackets indicate the score obtained by the team.

(:  – Team was initially eliminated but competed in Comeback Kitchen afterwards.) - Not yet confirmed

I believe there would be one or more who wouldn't agree with this. I have proposed as simplified version of Elimination history table for MKR 2013 series. Have a look on what they said by clicking this link. —FrancDeBx (talk) 15:52, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To FrancDeBx. Well everyone has the own opinion of course, but we can only assume this series could be just as long or maybe even longer than last year and so the table really does need to be simplified. I had a look at your table format and it seem some say that too much information was removed. So maybe we could come of with something half way, so it provides enough information but saves space at the same time.

Here's take two of a table format.

  • Change to include Safe or Elim for the sudden death cells.
  • People's Choice-full words includes nowrap feature
  • Keep scores in brackets, no need for a 'pts' abbreviation.

Also propose to use a new key which is now in table format listing all the relevant information for the simplified table. This also means we no longer need added notations at the bottom

Consistency-ify elimination table[edit]

In the Peoples' Choice challenges, a rightwards-pointing arrow (→) indicates the team won the challenge and was safe, however in the Food Truck challenges, the term ‘SAFE’ is used. Surely, these should be consolidated into a single symbol? In addition, in the Instant Restaurant rounds, ‘N/A’ is used to represent ‘Team did not compete in this challenge’, however in the Peoples' Choice challenges, the rightwards-pointing arrow (→) is used for the same purpose.

I propose to, for the Food Truck challenges, use ‘N/A’ to represent ‘Team did not compete in this challenge’, a rightwards-pointing arrow (→) to represent ‘Team became safe from elimination after winning/passing the challenge’, as it is more eye-pleasing, and using ‘SAFE’ (singularly regardless of background colour) to represent ‘From winning the previous challenge, team was already safe and did not participate.’

Thus, the table would look something like:

Teams' progress through the competition

Notes: Instant restaurant scores out of 110 Sudden Death and finals scores out of 60

Thanks for the response regarding the new table. To avoid confusion, the arrow (→) now means challenge completed and onto the next round/challenge. Since non-winning teams aren't actually 'SAFE' after PC challenges, we can't use that. I have since added an OUT cell indicating the loser of the PC that sits out of the food truck round and is sent to sudden death. The N/A cells are only used when the team sits out because they are not assigned to the round. (e.g the Instant restaurants Group 1 or 2). We need 'SAFE' for the food trucks because some teams will actually win this challenge and are 'Safe'.

Also we now need 2 types of SAFE (the white and the yellow background) because we now learn that teams winning PC can participate in the Food Truck OR be exempt from it. This is one of the format changes this year that prompted a change to the table, because not all PC winners have guaranteed safety (which the previous seasons always had) LOSE cells now stand out above the SAFE ones, when both were white they seemed a bit cluttered and messy.

Thanks Cloud31495 (talk) 14:22, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I see… Makes sense now that you've clarified it (and added an ‘OUT’ cell). But could the gold exemption ‘SAFE’ to something else, so it doesn't conflict with the regular ’SAFE’? Something like ‘WON’ (…the previous challenge) or ‘EXEMPT’ or ‘CLEAR’? (I suppose the gold SAFE makes sense, as the team was safe, but for a different reason.) Pokepal101 (talk) 06:13, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To Pokepal101
Thanks for the fixes with the table. The gold safe and white safe will make more sense eventually. the main reason not all teams receive complete safety after a PC win. What happens if a team wins PC and is then sent to Sudden death? This is actually possible this year. . unlike prev years. Cloud31495 (talk) 06:33, 7 March 2014 (UTC) EDIT. Yellow safe now reads IMM for Immunity.[reply]

ELIMINATION HISTORY TABLE MAJOR CHANGES ***Cloud31495***[edit]

This year's table has changed to accommodate some of the new variations brought into this years series

I ask that any editor, to please read this and put in new suggestions if you feel there are any changes are to be made, to make it better etc.

WHAT HAS CHANGED
Columns are now separated for Peoples Choice, Food Truck and HQ challenges
UPDATE — New colour code changes
Reasons

  • Helps to indicate exactly when the team is safe from elimination. One single column is no longer sufficient enough for three separate challenges per round.
  • Not all People's Choice winners are exempt from further challenges.
  • New format allows for incorporation of the Jury, which is once again a format change.

Instant Restaurants[edit]

Whoa....If you're gonna make changes to the IR tables like that can you at least talk on the page first Cloud31495 (talk) 10:15, 6 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Holy moly! What happened to the instant restaurant tables? Those dish names make it very hard to distinguish which of which column the score is! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.171.124.50 (talk) 18:21, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
