I think that this article and Music of Serbia and Montenegro should be merged somehow. One part of information is duplicated, and the other should be merged. I don't have the clean course how, though. I suggest moving contents from the other article here, and making it just a semi-redirect page with links to Music of Serbia and Music of Montenegro. Even if all three articles are in bad shape right now, I think all three are appropriate subjects for an article. Tuf-Kat 17:12, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

Bijelo Dugme

I removed Bijelo Dugme from the Serbian Rock section. There is nothing Serbian about it. This band is from Sarajevo for crying out loud. I don't know who made it part of the article but that is an idiot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.212.243.172 (talk) 18:46, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

Folk introduction

I think that introduction for section folk should be rewritten, primarily to give brief introduction to folk music itself, instead of pointlessly describing Yugoslavia breakup. The paragraph about immigrant ensembles should be either entirely removed, or moved to more adequate place. Jablan 22:22, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

There is a big problem i the article becose it puts in the same kategory music of cune and of saban ~~

Add a video of a real life Serbian jam band?

I am working with the Global Lives Project, a non-profit organization that captures a library of human life experience that provides educational insight into people's lives and occupations around the world. I have a video of a Serbian man named Dusan Lazic, who lives in Vojka, Serbia and plays guitar in his trio jam band. This video provides a real life perspective into Serbian rock / pop music. I thought it would be a cool video to post onto the page for educational insights. The video can be found here. Do you think this would be a cool / valuable addition to the page, so that people can see first hand some true Serbian jam music? Thoughts? Thank you. Peter Hogue (talk) 21:33, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

I don't think this would be interesting in any way, as this is an ordinary cover band (it would be a different story if this was a recording of a famous Serbian band). Plus, they are performing a song by a band from Croatia. Ostalocutanje (talk) 09:35, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Update

This article has a certain quality, but some information are outdated. For example, pop singer Ana Stanić can not be called popular, because she isn't for already 20 years. Plus: not she was popular for decades, so she has made a huge influence in the world of Serbian music - her popularity started in 1993-1994 and ended in 1995-1996. On the other hand, the biggest pop star in the country at this moment would be Goca Tržan, with her multimillion youtube views and concerts visited by thousands and thousands of people. She is probably followed by rising star Marina Visković, who happens to become the yuongest fashion and gay icon. Then, we have to add the biggest teen star and that one is without doubt Sara Jo (former Eurovision entry). There is also all time popular Ana Nikolić. Nataša Bekvalac also. But Ana Stanić - no. Jelena Tomašević - barely. Then, Jelena Karleuša could barely be called turbo-folk singer. And I will give you the obvious reason by comparing her to another, true turbo-folk star, Mile Kitić. Mile Kitić vs Jelena Karleuša. As a matter of fact, turbo-folk is outdated term as well, but it is a long story and I don't want to mess up with that now (but somebody should in some time soon). Next... List of turbo-folk singers will be updated with Zorica Brunclik who is obviously missing, and who is basically turbo-folk embodied. The saddest fact is that she remains not only one of the biggest turbo-folk stars, but just and simply one of the biggest stars of Serbia, having a 25.000 people concert couple of months ago. And she is already in her 60s. I think this article should be protected of those who would make a profile on Wikipedia just so that they can add their idols into Music of Serbia. I tend not to be one of those. You can check the history of my contributions here This is me --BetteDavis4ever (talk) 08:51, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

Please go ahead and edit the article, your effort is appreciated.--Zoupan 09:31, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! But another thing... I see Serbian Folk music with Folk, Turbo-folk etc. And then another chapter Popular music with pop, rock, hip-hop and other. Does that mean that turbo-folk is not considered popular (it certainly is popular!)? Any suggestions about new title? --BetteDavis4ever (talk) 09:38, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
I think I've found a solution. :) --BetteDavis4ever (talk) 09:42, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

Best-selling albums

Where can I find information on best-selling albums in Serbia? They should be added to List of best-selling albums by country#Serbia.--Zoupan 11:33, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
