Draft[edit]

There was already a draft for this page, with a large amount of sources too https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:MultiVersus

Yeah just delete this one. Plus that one also includes the HBox leaks. ~~ RobbyB3ll4s (talk) 23:33, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of leaks?[edit]

There are more leaks talking about specific characterers. No reliable sources yet but I believe it might get one soon enough. According to the Fanelli, Whitehead, and Leblanc sources, the Redditor claimed the game was an open secret as they had received a bunch of DMs from other Redditors who were apparently aware, and he had leaked bits of it earlier in a way that only a work colleague could tell (Which might not be mentioned since there does not appear to be a source on the first leak, merely mentioned in the initial reddit post.)

Would it do to simply index a list of leaks reported on by sources, and then if we decide it's important, have a concluding sentence like "There were multiple content leaks for the game after its announcement and before launch" folowed by either "Some of which were proven true, others false" or "However as of [date] it has not been proven valid"? I'm trying to establish a consensus.

I don't think it's necessary to talk about that. If we mentioned everything in the rumour-mill for anything - which we would have to do once we start going down any rabbit hole of leaks and such - its page(s) would balloon to be the size of a treatise on that subject. 2607:FEA8:7495:D300:8C9E:60F5:5C0:7C29 (talk) 15:05, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Voice casting[edit]

Should we include the voice actors? Leader Vladimir (talk) 21:32, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No, we don't include voice cast in video game articles per WP:GAMECRUFT. OceanHok (talk) 05:37, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I had no idea. Sorry. Leader Vladimir (talk) 19:52, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cruft?[edit]

This segment was removed from the Reception section:

Rock Paper Shotgun listed Finn the Human, Batman, and Harley Quinn as the best characters to play as in both 1-v-1 and 2-v-2 modes of the game during its open beta. Bugs Bunny and LeBron James were also listed among characters best suited for the 1-v-1 and 2-v-2 modes, respectively.[1] Not differentiating between modes, PCGamesN listed Finn, Bugs Bunny, Batman, Harley Quinn as the best characters in the game, as well.[2]

At first it was removed by an IP @80.41.28.222: under the pretense that "This is not the place for a subjective 'tier list'". Obviously, the Reception section will always be filled with subjective commentary and criticism by media outlets, journalists, etc. Then after being restored, it was once again removed for being "cruft". Specifically, "Who is the "best character" is cruft. Tournament viability etc has no place here".

How is this cruft? It is well within the scope of the article to include how media outlets receive the game, its characters, and their gameplay mechanics. The removed info didn't specify or qualify the characters by their "tournament viability", just how suited they are for 1-v-1 or 2-v-2 modes of the game. This seems totally in-bounds for inclusion to me and not cruft... (of course, this is not to say we need to include every reviewer's rankings, but a general or consensus takeaway should be appropriate for inclusion). I didn't see anything here (Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Video games) that would advise against this information being included in this section. Maybe the info could be reworked into the article to give readers a better view as to why the reviewers thought those characters as the best in the game, but I wouldn't call it cruft.

I'm refraining from reverting this removal of info again to avoid edit warring, but would like input from other editors and that IP here on how to include that info/rework it into the article, or if maybe I'm missing something. Thanks.

Freely-licensed screenshots should be available[edit]

Videos by MultiVersus's official YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/MultiVersus/videos) has their videos licensed under CC-BY licence. As it's licensed by the copyright holder, Warner Bros. (as the channel is verified), we should be able to take free screenshots taken from their videos licensed under CC license and upload to Commons. It should not be uploaded as fair use locally as it will certainly fail WP:NFCCP criteria 1 for this reason.

For example, their esports videos can be used as freely-licensed gameplay screenshots as long the video is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution licence on the description. --Stylez995 (talk) 17:19, 29 October 2022 (UTC) (Edit: grammar fix. --Stylez995 (talk) 17:21, 29 October 2022 (UTC))[reply]
