It was proposed in this section that Mount Aino be renamed and moved to Mount Ai.

Mount Aino → Mount Ai — I think we should remove the redundant no that is a mere preposition (almost equivalent to English "of") and has no particular meaning here; same case as Mount Tō, whose original name is Tōnodake. Yasu (talk) 14:55, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose to Mount Aino and Mount Ai: Mount Tō is strange naming. Mt. Tonotake is acceptable. Mount Aino (I could find a few sample in google books) and Mount Ai are also strange naming. Mount Ainodake, Mt. Ainodake (Ainodake) or Mount Ainotake, Mt. Ainotake (Ainotake) are acceptable like Yatsugatake Mountains. Takabeg (talk) 10:33, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comment For me, "Mount Ainodake" or "Mt. Ainodake" is strange naming; "Mount X-dake" is a redundant term since dake means "mountain" in Japanese, so such a naming should be avoided. Just "Ainodake" (as we Japanese call it) is acceptable, but I believe "Mount Ai" is much better according to the current naming convention for mountains of Japan. BTW, the original name of the mountain in kana is あいのだけ and not あいのたけ, so "Ainotake" is incorrect transliteration. Yasu (talk) 16:32, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think Mount Ainodake is best choice per google books & 2008 Yamanashi Facts and Figures, Public Relations Division, Yamanashi Prefectural Government, p. 4. Takabeg (talk) 04:34, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the name should be changed, but I am not sure yet to what. Will ask at WPJ for the current policy (if there is any). As far as I understand X-yama, X-no-dake,... become "Mount X" unless "X" is very short (one letter or so). bamse (talk) 11:09, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
