What language do they speak?--Kaiyr (talk) 10:33, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am Ecuadorian, the Montubios speak Spanish with a very particular accent prevalent in the countryside of the coast. Another edit: Montubios are very much an Ecuadorian version of Chilean huaso, the Argentinian gaucho or Mexican vaquero. They're a mestizo population from the countryside with a culture that's somewhat distinct to that of city-dwellers. However, they're not an Indian/Native American people as previously posted. For that reason, I have deleted a picture of a figurine posted in this article from the Banco Central of Ecuador. That figurine does not belong to the Montubios, as they do not craft objects similar to those because they are mestizos, not Indians. --Ecuagringo
