GIF[edit]

I'm trying to decide if it's worth adding Media:MonteregieInsideQuebec.gif, which shows the region inside Quebec. I'm not sure if it's overkill. Maybe somebody else can either like it and add it; or somebody can find a better (or more consistant) map showing the region inside Quebec. --rob 06:34, 23 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for my mistake, you're correct. I hope http://www.stat.gouv.qc.ca/regions/profils/region_16/region_16_00_an.htm is correct. I changed what I beleive (from comparing the two) the single wrong name, to make it consistent. If it's still out-of-date, or in error, then I guess the image has to be deleted. --rob 08:56, 23 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Location[edit]

Monteriggioni[edit]

Monteriggioni sounds like the same name only in Italian - is there any relation or pure coincidence?
Also, why are some names in Latin languages so popular like Villanueva/Villeneuve etc... but why specifically Monteriggioni/Monteregie out of zillions of possible permutations?

Montérégie is named for the Monteregian Hills (Collines montérégiennes in French), which in turn are named for Mons Regius (Latin name of Mount Royal (Mont Royal in French), the best known hill of this group ). As for Monteriggioni: monte is "mountain" (or "mount") in Italian but I'm not sure about "-riggioni", it doesn't really look as being derived from Latin "regius". Google shows that it's an Italian surname, so the town may have been named for someone called Riggioni (Monteriggioni --> Monte Riggioni --> Mountain of Riggioni; that's only my thought, though, and it's probably wrong). Villanueva/Villeneuve/Neuville all mean simply "a new town", just like equally popular in English-speaking countries Newtown (or Neustadt in German-speaking countries). --Piotron (talk) 22:42, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
