I'm puzzled by this article. Does "Monen" refer to the field of study, or to the person studying it? What language does it come from? If it's in Hebrew (which I know well), the closest word I can think of is מעונן, "me`onen", which refers to "someone who fortells the future using clouds", and by extension, someone who attempts to make prophecies based on heavenly body. As far as I can remember, this term is mentioned in the Hebrew bible, and in Jewish tradition this was a derogetory term, similar to "עובד כוכבים ומזלות", or "עכו"ם" (akum) for short, itself meaning "worshipper of stars and constelations".

So, has the term "me`onen" the origin of the term mentioned in this article? Does it have a positive meaning in Kabbalah, as some sort of legitimate field of study? Why was the spelling "monen" chosen in English, and by whom?

Or does "monen" have a completely different etymology?

Factual dispute[edit]

This article was very problematic in the first place - I can't find any mention of "monen" outside Wikipedia, and as a Jew and Hebrew speaker, I also never heard of it. But that is fine - it may be some esoteric term. But now comes an anonymous editor added a lot of "facts" in this page that look like utter nonsense, talking about elephants (!) and polar bears (!!). This looks like patent nonsense, and I'm disputing its factuality. Please let me know if you find a source for these "facts". Nyh 15:05, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, My name is Monen, and I am both a student of Monen and the person studying it. I would greatly appreciate if anyone who has ever edited this article would please email me at EmilyMonen@gmail.com. I have never contributed to the Monen entry, but I am facinated by it. Thank you!!

Factual dispute[edit]

First of all I request excuses because my english is not very good. I am a bit confused with this I article, but I am investigator and I have been making projects in the North pole. Mɸnen te loveã was a very ancient culture related wiht the polar bears. it is said that dÂ`Mɸnen CΗãõs (also called by people ROBUS), the founder of the civilization, was saved by a polar bear and now his soul is inside of all the polar bears. I have been searching about Monen te palmea but I don´t know anything about it. I can´t assure that Mɸnen te loveã & dÂ`Mɸnen CΗãõs really existed but in the north pole there are some ancient civilization that belive in Mɸnen te loveã. these civilization each year kill a polar bear as a ritual because they want to free dÂ`Mɸnen CΗãõs `s soul. but the rest of the year the polar bear is a sacred animal who is more important than the women for all the people who belive in Mɸnen te loveã. 17:40 24 March 2006 Germany.

In that case the article has nothing to do with Kabbalah and should be radically re-written. And what language is "monen te lovea" and the rest of it supposed to be? --Sir Myles na Gopaleen (the da) (talk) 17:09, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
