Mondale → Mondale (disambiguation) – This page was a primary redirect to Walter Mondale for a long time, until it was changed to this DAB page a year ago. I think it's likely Walter Mondale is still the primary topic, so it should have been discussed first IMO. (Everyone on Mondale (surname) is related to him. And it's not likely Mondale High School would be called just "Mondale", even if it was well known.) --Quiz shows 19:41, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is another case where a disambiguation list is made separately from a name list, and creates a very artificial situation - the average reader recognizes how often does a surname get used mononymously in the vernacular, but somehow we have a bunch of editors who do not. Reverting the 2021 edits is certainly a no-brainer, but I'd also like to point out that if Mondale (surname) was at Mondale, it would be a completely normal situation - that list places Walter Mondale at the top and the readers looking for him would be well served, while also not forcing the use of WP:PTOPIC. --Joy (talk) 09:09, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, there's no good reason to have the surname article and the dab separate here. Given that apparently only about half of the visits to the dab page eventually result in a hop to the primary topic, I think it would be best if the combined dab/surname page was at the primary title. – Uanfala (talk) 13:46, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
