Is MJ Her Real Name?[edit]

I'm here to ask whether MJ is an abbreviation or is it her full name. If I'm wrong... Well, I've never heard such a name before.Yanjipy (talk) 22:27, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

MJ is certainly the name used in reliable sources. I don't think questioning her name in the way you are doing is helpful in an article talk page meant to be based on RS and not speculations about personal details. Rab V (talk) 08:28, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Her deadname is clearly irrelevant in answering the question, not to mention a violation of the policy about deadnaming. Though the initial question does not seem to be in good faith (If I'm wrong... Well, I've never heard such a name, despite it literally being shared with a popular comic character, and the general inference that the asker believed "MJ" to be initials of a deadname they felt should be used instead), and is FORUM, to answer: at the time of asking it was her "full name", as far as sources knew, and she has since added that it is an abbreviation of Michaela Jae. Mj is no longer the name Michaela Jaé uses professionally[edit]

The previous discussion about her name says the topic is closed, but circumstances have changed since that discussion. She now goes by Michaela Jaé Rodriguez. Mj Rodriguez is the name she is most commonly known as to this point in time. When it becomes more common for her to use some other name, then the article name should be changed to reflect that. See WP:COMMONNAME for how articles are titled. Name attribute in infobox reflects article name. WP:NAMECHANGES is the relevant guideline here, and reliable sources after the announcement indeed refer to her using the longer name: [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]. Some use the previous name in the headlines and spell it out in the body ([18][19][20][21][22][23][24]), presumably for recognizability, but they seem fewer in recent days (which makes sense). Some others use the previous name exclusively ([25][26][27][28]) but they are few and far between (and note the transition to the new name by The Independent and PopSugar).
