Marduks anti-robot?

I admit I'm only going off of the English Japanese translation subtitles and the English dubs, but the former doesn't indicate one way or the other whether or not the Marduks are anti-robot (it says they are a political party), and the later seems to indicate they are not, since Pero says they hunt robots to "calm anti-robot sentiments". Also they are founded by Duke Red, an industrialist who uses a robot to rule the world. This would collaborate the logic of them being pro-robot (and Rok being an anomaly of the group, and not the norm). I edited it, but if the original Japanese somehow contradicts the subtitles/dub, feel free to turn it back. The relevant part is around the 14:00 mark of the movie. 204.195.48.78 (talk) 01:00, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Metropolis-anime-dvd.jpg

Image:Metropolis-anime-dvd.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:01, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

External links

I reverted an External Link to a fan site hosted on freewebs.com . Good-intentioned as the site most likely is (and the original edit adding the site was in good faith), it unfortunately doesn't belong here. Some articles have links to fan sites of large magnitude, such as TheForce.net and Nausicaa.net, both of which are universally recognized as THE leading fan sites for the Star Wars and Studio Ghibli films, respectively. They also cover a broad spectrum of knowledge related to entire bodies of work, not just single movies, and links to them are used very sparingly.

There are a number of external links to sites other than official documentation about the movie itself, such as an essay about the movie. Since these were already here before the fan site went in, I want to ask other editors what they think about including this site in the external links. The essay about the movie might actually be good for a citation, but I'm not sure if it should be in the External Links section. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 07:14, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Total Gross

I added the total gross to the page. I found this from the website Box Office Mojo. 207.255.127.59 (talk) 18:31, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Original title?

Was the original title "astroboy: metropolis"? It seems a little unusual to me, being that it was based on a manga named just metroplis, with the manga bing vaguelly based on a film which again was called just metroplis. Was it to bootleg off of the astroboy series in a hope to gain a larger audience, a homage to the writer, or, seeing as the film has nothing to do with Astroboy, a load of nonsence? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.153.199.97 (talk) 02:55, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

In the DVD documentary, the narrator says Metropolis is another tale of Astro Boy. In many ways, it could almost be part of the same universe. In one part of the movie, there is a sign for a wanted criminal from one of the Astro Boy manga chapters. Also Shunsaku Ban who is a character in many of Tezuka's manga, including Astro Boy, mentions his dog Pero from another Astro Boy chapter. However he does not seem to realize the robot he gives the "Pero" name to is the same character-actor as the android made from his dog in the Astro Boy manga, but that's normal for Tezuka: in his long-running series, some character-actors are often seen playing different roles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.22.103.117 (talk) 06:33, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
