Blimp or Airship Landing port on roof of Merchandise Mart?

I heard recently that the roof of the Mart was originally designed to accommodate landings of blimps/airships, which at the time the building was designed were thought to be the next major mode of transportation. Also that the 4 elevated corners of the building contain stairwells and ingress/egress points for passengers arriving via the airships. Any truth to this??? --216.36.87.189 (talk) 14:10, 30 July 2009 (UTC)timbell

Only thing I can find like this is somebody's photo uploaded to Yelp, showing a blimp being used in construction, "circa 1928." --Whyamikeenan (talk) 16:14, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

I would, in seeking to redraft this W-- article, find the following subject of PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE: "History of Ownership" Clearly enough, Marshall Field [is stated to have] owned it. What is mysterious is who owned it after, and by what means did this party obtain it? It is not enough to say: "Sargent Shriver did this or that" --- too much water under the bridge and unexplained at that. 50.0.124.136 (talk) 02:54, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
