Debate on age-ranging or -banding children's books (2008)[edit]

According to The Guardian, Meg Rosoff was one of few children's authors to support publisher plans for "age-banding" or "age-ranging" books. Here is her essay in favor:

Meg Rosoff, "Hay festival: Ranging and raging: I regret missing Jimmy Carter, but I regret missing the opportunity to protest the children's age-ranging debate more" 31 May 2008
"I seem to be the lone voice in favour of adding suggested age ranges to children's books, and would have greatly enjoyed protesting the protest."

On the contemporary protest, with links to more articles plus guardian.co.uk blogs:

Beside the Carnegie Medal citation (book and author blurbs) that is now referenced in the article [ref name=medal2007], contemporary press releases are available online.

Two releases 21 June 2007 feature Rosoff and Just in Case. Two earlier releases 20 April 2007 may be useful, "Shortlist ... announced" and "... Judges comments on the shortlist".
