Album cover claim[edit]

Removed this statement, as it is false:

"He is also the only KISS member not to appear in any album front cover, since the Animalize cover only features a tapestry of animal prints."

In point of fact, Revenge featured no one on the cover, either. It appears to be a battered warship of sorts, though there is no real explanation of what it is on the cover. I think I wrote this, and I stand corrected. Mark was the only official member notto appear on the front cover of an official KISS release. Eric Singer appeared on the cover of Carnival Of Souls and Unplugged. However, KISS did appear on the back of Animalize, Mark included. 209.254.200.110 (talk) 20:28, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The statement isn't false. It says "He is also the only KISS member not to appear in any album front cover" which is very true. The fact that no members of KISS appear on the cover of "Revenge" make no difference whatsoever because Eric Singer appears on the covers of "Alive III" and "Unplugged." "Needless to say, Tamplin has also cowritten material with Gene Simmons of KISS." How exactly is this needless to say? I'm a massive KISS fan, and I didn't know it. Nirvana?[edit]

The ironic comment about him dying the same day as Kurt Cobain is not really ironic and should be removed. Mostly because it's not relevant at all to Mark St. John. If anyone else agrees, go ahead and remove it.

They didn't die on the same day; St. John died 13 years after Cobain. That people died on the same day of the year, in different years, means nothing - that is true for everyone. "Changing classic solos" and citation[edit]

Gene Simmons has stated that St. John was going to be dropped from KISS anyway as he was "changing the classic solos." This was reported in the book "KISS Alive Forever."

I can't find that quotation as attributed to Gene Simmons anyplace in the book "KISS - Alive Forever." A similar quote was attributed to Chris Lendt (a/k/a C.K. Lendt), author of "KISS and Sell," on page 139 0f "Kiss -- Alive Forever," but he's not really the best source for musical opinions, regardless of his direct quote in the book. Look at it this way: firstly, Mark only played two full shows and one partial show with the band, solely due to his illness, which is hardly enough time for Gene and Paul to get irked by Mark not playing the "classic solos." Secondly, that term of art -- "classic solos" -- is pure NNPOV, and should be replaced with a term to the effect of "Ace Frehley's solos." In reality, both Vinnie Vincent and Bruce Kulick also played Ace's solos differently in concert. Bruce certainly wasn't fired for it and continued with the band for over twelve years. Vinnie Vincent never signed his contract, which was the main reason he was let go, along with personality conflicts which are well documented elsewhere. So the rationale that Mark was giong to be fired anyway because he changed the solos live is pure hogwash to me. I've removed this portion of the article as it is purely NNPOV, POV of Chris Lendt and further, improperly cited on top of everything else.

Fair enough. It's not that big a deal to me, so remove it. But I do think there's an argument that "classic solos" is not NNPOV. Would it be NNPOV to refer to the 1933 "King Kong" as "the classic" compared with the 70s and 00s remakes? And another thing - sign your posts. Callum J. Serious deficiencies in article and references[edit]

Where is the mention of his arrests, or his severe beating at Orange County jail in California that may have led to his death? This is being investigated as part of the disgusting events in that jail where deputies encouraged inmate assaults. This is a known fact in Los Angeles County jails as well.

Audiobook "Excerpt"[edit]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBDhJ0d58bA This source that has been added to the article, removed and readded numerous times because it is "sourced" material is something put together as a satirical story spun by Paul Stanley about Mark from the former man's autobiography. You can clearly hear the splices of audio within the video, especially pertaining to the claims of unusable songs Mark "gave" them, which are actually from the early days of Paul and Gene Simmons' partnership in Wicked Lester, not that point in time.
