Complete Name[edit]

The Dutch wikipedia says twice (in the beginning of the article, and in the infobox) that her "Volledige naam" (complete name) is Maria Petronella Gerarda Koopmans", not Marion Petronella Gerarda Koopmans. As the name in use, they also say Marion Koopmans. I am german, not Dutch, i am not sure who is right. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 21:00, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Searching for her thesis leads to different University Library websites, some of these give her complete name: Maria Petronella Gerarda Koopmans, see http://opac.tib.eu/DB=5/LNG=DU/CLK?IKT=12&TRM=023478004. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 19:52, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

2018:stevin price and 2019:NWA-ORC grant for VEO are two different events[edit]

In 2018, she was awarded the Stevin price, including a grant of 2.5 Million Euro which she may invest into her research activities and application very freely. In 2019, the VEO initiative, under her lead, got an NWA-ORC scheme (under administration of NWO) grant of 9 Million Euro for their research investment plan. These are two different events. This becomes obvious by the given eur.nl and uu.nl references. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 05:35, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The near consecution in time might indicate that she possibly invested a major part of the Stevin Premie money into the VEO project, but i did not find any reliable source of information for that item in the given references. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 13:39, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Difference edited in article. My question (25 Oct, ^) remains open. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 19:33, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ebola testing volunteers[edit]

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/312069416_Ebola_virus_laboratory_response_the_three_Dutch_Mobile_laboratories_in_Liberia_and_Sierra_Leone is a source about the 3 Ebola testing laboratories. The section about "Volunteers and training" says "Training was provided by Erasmus MC...". --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 11:14, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The "Acknowledgements" section in the publication gives a list of volunteers' names. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 19:13, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

More about COVID-19 Research Activities[edit]

Found on her Google Scholar Profile: https://scholar.google.de/citations?user=cwUzg-kAAAAJ&hl=de&oi=ao

(1) The Top Article of hers describes the design/invention of the real time Reverse Transcription - PCR - Test for COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2). Led by Christian Drosten, Marion Koopmans and Chantal Reusken (another woman in red, moved from Erasmus MC to RIVM in early 2020?) and others planned experiments and conceptualised the laboratory work of this successful research project. Read the last sentence in the description of this paper by Google Scholar.

(2) There are several papers of her team concerning COVID-19 spread in mink farms.

As far as i have understood/read, this early article does not answer the question whether there is transmission from mink to human. But:

Line 38 says "animal to human transmissions". "The virus ... has evolved ... among mink" (lines 32 to 34). Lines 637-640: Koopmans ("M.P.G.K.") contributed to all steps (conceptualization, investigation, writing original draft, writing review and editing), and was supervisor. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 20:42, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(3) She will join a WHO team searching the origin of SARS-CoV-2 in China. Early life and education[edit]

(1) "She became increasingly interested in virology, and moved to the United States to specialise in viruses that can be transmitted between animals and humans." This sentence describes her motivation to join the CDC. I feel it is better to name first the motivation and then the action. Dear fellows, what do you think about it?

(2) The NL Wikipedia knows her school: Collegium Marianum at Valuas College, Venlo.

H7N7 ./. SARS[edit]

The article says she learned from the H7N7 outbreak for SARS.

RIVM rapport 630940004 Avian Flu Epidemic 2003: Public health consequences says: On page 12 - H7N7 begun of March 2003, On page 16 - it extended to Brabant and Limburg in October 2003. SARS ended approx. in May/July 2003, so it is improbable that she learned from H7N7 for SARS. The Citation here is a correct citation from the source, but within the source (a newspaper interview) there is - i think - an error. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 11:50, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SARS was first, H7N7 was later. So she cannot have learned from H7N7 for SARS. Now edited in the Article. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 18:53, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Photograph[edit]

Up to now, we have a snapshot photo that was one of a few ones in commons. Now, Commons has a new photo, the nl Wikipedia has taken it in use (and I decided, as a German Wikipedian, to follow them). Should we use it here also? --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 20:38, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
