All these mini-game descriptions...[edit]

Are they worth keeping? They just seem like a waste of space, seeing as none of the other Mario Party articles have them. Kudos to the people who spent the time writing them, but they're all unnecessary. I'll wait for a response before I bother deleting them. Hardcore gamer 48 10:53, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They are necessary. They have been on all previous Mario Party articles (1-3). Henchman 2000 15:14, 2 December 2006.

I don't think they really are. Just because the other articles have it, doesn't make it right. The list of games+descriptions = one long list of clutter on just about every Mario Party article on Wikipedia. RobJ1981 22:34, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. I can understand the titles being there, but definitely not the descriptions. Unless the descriptions can be at least condensed (around the size and format of the descriptions of the Mario Party 5 mini-games), I suggest they are removed from the article. Bowser Suit a hoax?[edit]

On the Item list, it says that you can get a Bowser Suit, but I have been playing the game for ages and haven't found one. Can it be found, or should I delete the Bowser Suit from the Item list? Bowsy 19:16 4 December 2006

Actually, it is. You can see Waluigi holding it on the box cover and manual. It even appears in the manual. Please, don't just assume something isn't there because you never seen it. Hardcore gamer 48 10:07, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry! Bowsy 19:33, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did read about it in the manual. While I never actually encountered it, it did say that it is obtainable from Koopa Kid, or something. –Llama mansign here 21:14, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I played a lot of it too. I never seen a bowser suit--User:NFAN3|NFAN3 02:13, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I beat story mode with every single character and played this game a ton with my friends and by myself, and never once found it. If it does exist, it must be EXTREMELY rare. 71.166.56.84 23:41, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It does. — Malcolm (talk) 00:25, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're right. I got it last month. It's an ultra-rare Bowser event. Bowsy (review me!) 12:10, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I encountered the bowser suit on story mode when the computer landed on the bowser space then bowser comes down and instead of it saying BOWSER GAMES it said BOWSER SUIT and the computer was awarded with a bowser suit.(71.57.101.233 (talk) 23:45, 22 June 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Same thing happened to me as well. Great, considering I've only had the game for just under a week now. Interactive Fiction Expert/Talk to me 12:29, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Minigames[edit]

This section is really crufty, and I think it should be removed. Any objections? –The Great Llamasign here 23:54, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I really see no reason to object, so I guess I'll be bold and remove it now. –The Great Llamasign here 00:10, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We should just add a list with either breif descriptions or none at all. You need to include something. Henchman 2000 18:45, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality[edit]

In the spaces list, everything is from the point of view of the player, not the neutral point of view. –Llama mansign here 17:22, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be better if all the "You"s were changed to "the player"? --Ephraim225 03:32, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Henchman 2000 19:46, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uh-huh. *grumble* I guess I'll change them... –Llama mansign here 20:51, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Marioparty4.jpg[edit]

Image:Marioparty4.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:06, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review[edit]

This review is transcluded from Talk:Mario Party 4/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

Woah, woah, woah, slow down, Giggy. I don't have a clue about images. I catually got User: The Prince of Darkness to upload the image because I've never done iot before. Assistance please?
Don't worry, I'm pretty bad with images too. I got User:Gazimoff to fix it up and upload a new copy. —Giggy 09:26, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done in the infobox. Should I put it in the lead too?
Yeah, I think you should mention the series in the lead. —Giggy 09:26, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • General note; this is the only Mario Party game I've played (IIRC), and I loved it. So there. :-)
Only played 4 and 5. It's been going steadily down hill—Mario Party 8 couldn't have been more of a missed opportunity. They had the Wiimote and they still fluffed it up.
Wow. Is it possible to stuff up with a Wiimote? —Giggy 09:26, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • "The objective of the game is to earn as many stars as possible,[1] which are obtained by purchase from a single predefined space on the game board. Each character's movement is determined by a roll of a die,[2]" - does this stuff (in the lead) really need citation?
Removed.
Should be the other way around—you tell me if my grammar sucks. I commonly make that mistake; I was looking at "turns" instead of minigame.
  • "Stars are usually attained by landing on the space on the board which it is set on, with the location changing after every acquisition." - this is somewhat unclear; I know "the space" = the space on which the star sits, and that the location of the star changes after someone getting it, but I've played. Try and clarify if you can.
Reworded. Better?
Yep - did another minor reword myself. —Giggy 09:26, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Mario Party 4 features six boards, five of which taking their name from a secondary Mario character" - if there's no wlink to a character list you can give an example of a secondary character. Oh, and "taking their name" --> "take their name"?
Done
  • "Mario Party 4 features eight playable characters, although they do not have any different gameplay attributes from each other." - somewhat tacked on and should probably go earlier in the section, I'd say.
Done
  • So, what, this game just popped out of the sky? :-) Very little on development - is that all there is to say? (Oh and it wouldn't hurt to cite the voice actors to somewhere, though it's not compulsory.)
I'm afraid so. For this reason, it's very difficult to get a non-AAA Mario title to FA. The only reason I got so much for Mario Power Tennis is because Camelot made it. I've cited Charles Martinet to IMDB, but I don't know if that's a reliable source.
It's probably OK for his appearing on there. Hmm... strange there's so little info out there for such a big franchise. Shrug.
  • "Mario Party 4 received a generally mixed response from critics, although the game was widely criticised for a lack of originality" - if it was mixed you should say something positive too.
Done
  • "exhausted themselves on previous Mario Party titles may not find enough here to draw them back again" - should Mario Party be in italics?
Done
  • Hmm... Game Informer isn't used at all in the reception section?
I know you have a thing about this. I don't have the material, so should I remove or replace.
Sorry, my bad, I always forget to check if you're citing Game Rankings or something else. Don't worry about it. :-) —Giggy 09:26, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done

That's about it - please leave me a note when done. Cheers, —Giggy 09:15, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Addressed issues. Left questions for some. Thanks, Giggy. Ashnard Talk Contribs 17:50, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Added "It is the fourth game in the Mario Party series." Do you think it needs a reference? ;-) Ashnard Talk Contribs 10:39, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It might... ;-) —Giggy 12:00, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Aaand passed! —Giggy 12:01, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nintendo Spin review[edit]

The Nintendo Spin review looks pretty questionable. Cited reviews should come from well-respected and/or popular sources. --- RockMFR 02:13, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose it's a grey area as to what exactlty qualifies this as "well-respected" or not. I personally don't know much about this site. Do you think it should be removed? Ashnard Talk Contribs 11:31, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. I'm going to do so now. --- RockMFR 22:41, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No time like the present, I guess. Thanks for the heads up. Ashnard Talk Contribs 09:44, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

in a series of board game style[edit]

This is unidiomatic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.189.103.145 (talk) 15:48, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
