On notability[edit]

I think I've been able to push this one just past the notability line, with regards to WP:CREATIVE criteria 3, as the book and the journal article about the restoration work are both independent pieces of work about his work. Additionally his collection being in the permanent collection national library meets criterion 4d of the same guide. It's not the most-slam dunk of notability claims, so checking in with User:Netherzone before moving to the main space. CT55555 (talk) 20:26, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@CT55555 I found another museum collection, and it is a good collection - the Smithsonian - and added it to the article. Criteria 4 of NARTIST/CREATIVE specifies "several" which means at least 2 notable museum collections, per several consensus conversations a year or two ago between editors. BTW, for decorative arts and design, I always check these two museums first: the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. To my way of thinking, all drafts should have a clear notability pass before moving to main space, even if they are stubs. I think the draft is good to go now! That's a great find. The recent sources call him M. Victor Poterlet and Victor Poterlet. What do you think is his most common name? CT55555 (talk) 00:16, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know, but my instinct is the article should be titled Marie Victor Poterlet. Then, in the lead, mention that he was also known by the two other names (and bold the alt names, so that if someone searches the encyclopedia for those alternate names, they will find the article immediately. I might be mistaken about search ease, but it seems to work. Netherzone (talk) 01:26, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That works. Is it possible you just accidentally deleted half the article by saving an old version? CT55555 (talk) 01:27, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OMG! I'm sorry about that, not sure what I did wrong, I only intended to change the ref-name from Benefit to Benezit. Apologies if my goof caused any alarm. When I undid my edit, the character count is different. Not sure why that is. Netherzone (talk) 01:44, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If this was a talk page, I'd make a joke about vandalism on wikipedia. In this space, I won't. lol. All good. I'll bet that you edited an old version and I added a lot in since you last refreshed it. CT55555 (talk) 01:53, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've uploaded a copyright-zero image to commons. It's very vertical, which might do something odd to the article layout. There are others available on the Smithsonian site HERE. Any thoughts?

I have thoughts. Here is one "that's fantastic" CT55555 (talk) 02:00, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh it looks great in the article. I also uploaded the center detail. It's a huge TIFF file, so if anyone cares to, it can be zoomed in for greater detail.
