Some notes[edit]

Dear Sir, I would like to help by expanding the article; I am cit. the German Wikipedia and tex passages from the "Arbeiterzeitung Vienna": Jahn (daughter of a master baker) and five siblings did grow up at Zürs. Like her siblings she started skiing very early. Her intention regarding an occupation was to become a nurse but she did abandon her schooling because her passion was alpine skiing. The Austrian Ski Federation did take notice when she was a double of actor Maria Perschy in the movie »Der schwarze Blitz« (»The black flash«), and Toni Sailer was the leading actor. She (being 17 years old) was second placed after the first leg in the slalom event in the Winter Olympics 1960 at Squaw Valley but did fell a few metres before the finish line in the second leg (to be disqualified). But she could continue showing her talent in the same season by winning the Alpine Combined in the »Harriman Cup« at Sun Valley and the slalom and combined in the "Arlberg Kandahar", held at Sestriere. She became injured in December 1960 (a fall in Val d'Isère), but after a break of several weeks she was victorious in all slalom races which followed incl. the slalom „Kandahar“ (held at Murren). She also became an Austria Champion in the giant slalom. Because also winning the slalom races in the following season (1961/62) (f.e. in the »Staufenpokal« / »Staufen-Cup« at Oberstaufen, in the »Swiss Races for Ladies« at Grindelwald and in the »Silberkrugrennen« / »Silver Jug Races« at Bad Gastein, she advanced to the position of a »red-hot favourite« for the FIS Alpine Skiing World Championships at Chamonix, and she did live up to expectations. She won the gold medal in the giant slalom (with only a minor margin of 0.07 sec.) to her team-mate Erika Netzer. On February 14th, she did outclass her opponents by winning the slalom race with a margin of 1.46 sec. to Marielle Goitschel and 3.28 sec. to Netzer. Fourth-placed Astrid Sandvik of Norway was 8.75 sec. (!) behind her (tenth-placed Haraldsen, also from Norway, 15.77 sec.). After the first leg she was behind Goitschel (but only 0.08 sec.) but the French racer was another red-hot favourite – maybe it was possible that Jahn would be able to win (considering to the minor deficite) but it wasn't imaginable that she could accomplish in such a dominating kind. In the downhill race she finished 22nd, good enough to gain another medal (silver in the Alpine Combined). In the season 1962-63 she won the slalom and giant slalom in the »Goldschlüsselrennen« (may translated into »Races for Golden Key«) at Schruns and became an Austrian Champion in slalom.

She did wed Freddy Nutt, a Liechtenstein citzizen, in Balzers on April 27th, 1963, and in the autumn she give birth of her first child (a daughter – another three children were born after her sports career). When she did start the season 1963-64 she was in deficite with training and practice. Therefore she was unable to achieve her usual performance; she couldn't gain any podium and she was inefficient in the Winter Olympics 1964 at Innsbruck. She didn't finish the first leg in the slalom and did only finish 13th in the giant (she didn't compete in the downhill). She was able to acquire several satisfactory results after the Games but she did announce her retirement after the season 1963-64 (only aged 21). Skiscout (talk) 15:48, 19 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
