One question

on the kill bill vol. 2 ost is a song "about her" from malcolm mclaren. it sounds more like electronic than like sex-pistols-style. so, what kind of music did he do now? -wib

He isn't necessarily connected to Punk Rock. He sorta shifts with music trends. In the 1970s he was with the Sex Pistols and was one of the big figures in punk, but not the first. The first big figure in punk who inspired the sex pistols were the New York Dolls, whom McLaren also managed. In the 1980s he shifted to Adam-Ant-type music and today as shown on his PARIS album, he has gone in a more electronic and slow love-rock type direction. Someone correct me if im wrong. -CunningLinguist 02:24, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Speaking about "about her", Mclaren is being accused of plagiarism by a French musician who pretends to be the composer of the musical arrangement of the song. More here... http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20050908/en_afp/afplifestylefrancebritainusjustice_050908164728

Work to do

The article needs a hell of a lot done on it, plus it needs some expansion. The post-Pistols era especially needs really beefing out if anyone feels up to itLogan1138 17:51, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Missing his involvement with Adam and the Ants. Not sure how significant he was, but remember him being interviewed and claiming the band's image and direction were driven by ideas he had given them. good figure for students doing media studies to research. Other bits

I just added that "The Bell Song" stuff. Info can be verified at http://www.discogs.com/artist/Malcolm+McLaren

Also, has anyone ever identified all the classical pieces of music he sampled in 'Waltz Darling'. I recognise a lot of them, but don't know what they are. If anyone could help, it would be fantastic. : ) Twinstar 21:59, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Why does it say 9 months and 2 days after VE day? UIs this taken from his biography? It's pure crap, obviously meant to relate to his anti-monarchy stance and has no place in an encyclopedia entry.

The Ghosts of Oxford Street

One project which I don't see mentioned here is The Ghosts of Oxford Street. I remember a TV program featuring it, and I have the CD, but that's about it. Hardly enough to change the article, but maybe someone else knows more about it... -- Alucard (Dr.) | Talk 01:56, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

I have just reverted another piece of vandalism on here. So if someone is watching this page, they seem to be repeat offender. I am not very experience with Wiki, so unsure how to note the user, although they were anonymous. If you check the entries, the same person appears to inserting a line about Mclaren raping a 12 yr old boy into the article. I may not know Wiki very well, but I know this isn't the way to get this across. If the allegation is true, and if it is important to the article, then background, court reference, was he tried and convicted, etc. are in order. Not random lines buried into the article like a sneak. I only came to the article looking some history on Viv Westwood. Good Luck Wikipedians. Wildwose 19:31, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Birth surname

Why was he born Edwards? Nietzsche 2 (talk) 07:18, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

I was actually about to ask the exact same question! I haven't found anything to back this up online. None of his family members seem to have been called Edwards, so it looks as though either something fundamental has been missed out of this article or he wasn't born Edwards at all. Also, if he were born with a different surname, why would he adopt the surname of his father who walked out when he was a toddler? It doesn't make sense. He's done a lot more fashion

In the 1990's he did a line exclusively in Japan called Ancien-Dead in England, the line featured new interpretations of his designs with Vivienne Westwood, mostly from the SEX and Seditionaries era. Then a few years ago he did a line of kids wear for the online retailer Yoox with a Video Game theme, and just this year he's done some limited stuff with Vans. Also in the Biography episode for the Sex Pistols he mentions that Vivienne had pointed him to hiring a John for the band, although Westwood meant John Simon Richie (Sid Vicious), he mistakenly hired John Lydon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.63.206.30 (talk) 03:45, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

What was the name of the kids tv show from the 90s about a band that did a cover of "She's Not There"?

THEY DID A COVER OF "SHE'S NOT THERE" BY THE ZOMBIES ONE OF THEM HAD GREEN HAIR! THE PROGRAM WAS ABOUT THE BAND TRYING TO MAKE IT.... NOT LONG AFTERWARDS THEY WERE ACTUALLY RELEASING RECORDS. I CANT REMEMBER THE NAME OF THE BAND OR THE NAME OF THE SHOW.... PRETTY SURE ITS THE SAME NAME! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.71.171.242 (talk) 16:17, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Early years

"Before leaving education entirely in 1971" In 1971 he was 25 - surely most people have left education by then. Is this accurate? If it is, it's hardly noteworthy.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 22:03, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Place of death

The BBC report that McLaren died in Switzerland, not NY as mentioned in the Wikipedia article. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8610423.stm 90.208.143.215 (talk) 21:50, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

thanks, changed it. SGGH ping! 23:26, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
Half of the newspapers say New York, the other half Switzerland. It's still unclear. I take it off in the article for the moment. Ok? --KurtR (talk) 03:09, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Most sources now say Switzerland, it appears that the early New York claims were wrong. Jim Michael (talk) 03:33, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Alright. I still think we have to wait until it's 100% clear what's right. By the way, I'm in Switzerland. --KurtR (talk) 03:45, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

New York Dolls and SEX

This sentence... "McLaren's son by Westwood, Joseph Ferdinand Corré, co-founded the lingerie brand Agent Provocateur." Although true seems to be unreferenced and also irrelevant in this section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 15.219.153.81 (talk) 10:10, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
