The "advert" tag[edit]

As it stands, this newly-created article reads like an advertisment for a business. It definitely has some stylistic problems, to say the least, which I am tempted to try to fix in the short term. I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but is this a non-profit or a for-profit deal? JamesofMaine 00:15, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback. This is my first time creating an article on Wikipedia. Where ought I strengthen it sylistically? I'm just a former student from the place and was surprised to find out that it wasn't listed on Wikipedia. I believe its non-profit.

OK, no problem, and welcome. First, I've found Help:Editing and WP:MOS to be helpful. Another important policy is WP:NPOV. My main problem with the article as it's currently written is that it has an overly "promotional" tone, which may violate NPOV, and earned it the "advert" tag. Other stuff (basically mechanics): the article shouldn't begin with a section header. The subject of the article should be bolded in the first sentence--- it also shouldn't be an external link. I think one external link, to the Workshops' homepage, would suffice, and should be placed at the end of the article. I'll make some the changes myself, and you can see what I'm talking about by looking at the edit summaries (under the "History" tab). But anyway, don't be afraid to continue to edit anything you wish on Wikipedia, and don't be afraid to make mistakes--. Also, don't forget to sign your posts by adding four tildes (~) at the end. Press release[edit]

I have reverted the verbatim addition of the "ROCKPORT, MAINE – March 3, 2007" press release. Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files WP:NOT#REPOSITORY. This can and should be used as a source for addition of relevant infomation (as long as it's encyclopedic) but it needs to be edited. Fountains of Bryn Mawr 02:21, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
