  • Support. There is a well established convention that for words of Māori origin we indicate long vowels by use of macrons. Māngere is a word of Māori origin and has a long 'a'. I see no good reason why we should write it without a macron, as though it had a short 'a'. I ought to draft a guideline soon, so that we don't need a RM for such standard moves.
