Corrections from His third son[edit]

My father, Rufus Callender, was the son of Venezuelian merchant Antonio Callender. Our parents told us he had a brother called Bernard.

I have a lot more info and a few corrections about this page.

1- On his 1948 trip to Europe my father had a child called Ingrid Berglund who still lives in Stockholm. She is a spitting image of her dad but speaks with a beautiful scandinavian accent.

2- He also had a previous daughter living in Regina, Saskatchewan where he moved shortly after our parents separated in early 1971.

3- His wife, Monique Côté, was actually born in the Bellechasse county just south of Québec City on April 29, 1933 to an old pioneer family dating back to 1619. When her mother died in 1937, she was sent to LaSarre, Abitibi to her uncle's, a prominent local businessman.

4- At barely 18, she turned down an arranged marriage organised by her uncle to move to Montréal with her brother Rolland. There she met my father at the Rockhead Paradise club at which he and his Tambu Bambu band where starring.

5- From 1953 to 1963, they actually had seven sons:

Camille, Gabriel, Christian, Pascal, Claudel, Marius and Dominique who died at birth.

6- I will return with more info including documents backing it up. 2001:56B:DC46:4000:BDC6:EA25:4B22:C84D (talk) 12:57, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
