The name of the village is "Long Cheng" and not "Long Tieng". http://postimg.org/image/w88q1z5bp/ --212.186.64.225 (talk) 20:16, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe. But during the Vietnam War when Long Tieng or Long Chen or Long Cheng was important, the Lao name of the place was most often transliterated as Long Tieng by the French and by English speakers who knew of the place. You have the same issue with Vientiane which is pronounced approximately "Vienchan" (in American English) but was transliterated by the French as Vientiane. And then there's Osama bin Laden (or is it Usama bin Laden)? Or, in speaking of China 100 years ago, should you call the city "Peking" or "Beijing?" The proper transliteration of a place or name from one written language to another is open to opinion. Smallchief (talk 19:40, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
