Article title

I think this article should be entitled "Cinema of Pakistan" to keep in line with the many other "Cinema of" articles. Lollywood should be the re-direct, and reference made as appropriate. Gram 11:34, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

I agree with you Gram, this should be the case with Lollywood too. -- User talk:Fast track 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I agree with Gram too, it should be titled against for what people can guess mostly around the world. People who dont know of this name will search after "Cinema of Pakistan" and when the title will appear with Lollywood ...which could be a little strange. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aenematica (talkcontribs) 15:03, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

I agree, also, I changed the first paragraph to say "Urdu is also rarely used in Bollywood features" to adding that spoken elements of Urdu and Hindi are interchangeable, and therefore the language is commonly used both industries; particularly since there is no (rarely) written element in film; the only facet in which the languages differ, especially in mainstream usage, as one could argue film in Bollywood is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Savail (talkcontribs) 00:12, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Never occurred to me to look down on Punjabi film until reading this article...nice going. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.35.159.226 (talk) 16:52, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Confusing Lollywood with Pakistani cinema

People in Pakistan seem to confuse Pakistani cinema with "Lollywood" (a stupid name which they should honestly get rid of). Pakistani cinema is an umbrella term describing several different, linguistic based film industries in Pakistan.

  • Lahore film industry (Lollywood) - home to the Punjabi film industry. Previously, also home to Urdu film industry, but since 2007 has shifted to Karachi.
  • Karachi film industry (sometimes called Kariwood) - now home to the Urdu film industry, since 2007
  • Pashto film industry - based in Peshawar and Karachi.
  • Sindhi film industry - based in Hyderabad and Karachi.

A lot of Urdu films coming out these days are not "Lollywood", they are actually Karachi based productions. So emphasis should be put on where these films are being produced. Not everything is "Lollywood". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 182.189.34.117 (talk) 05:26, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
