Limits of article coverage[edit]

Should there be a lower limit set for this article so that it does not list every single small power station in NZ? -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 09:43, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some small power stations are of interest and perhaps would be good to list. Eg the 75kW Dawson Falls Power Station. I don't think the list would grow too long if small stations were included, if necessary perhaps the small power stations (below 1MW?) could be broken into a seperate section in the same article, similar to the way done in List of mountains of New Zealand by height. -SmokeySteve (talk) 13:46, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gaps in the associated articles[edit]

The gaps and redlinks in the table show up the need to expand the relevant articles. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 20:29, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recentism[edit]

We have a little recentism in the list. We have a lot of proposed pwr stns but some of the older ones are still redlinks. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 12:54, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete lists?[edit]

"This list is incomplete; you can help by expanding it."

Are we close enough with the listings to remove these tags? -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 22:52, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I cant see the Opuha power scheme listed. 12kms North of Fairlie Opuha river maybe 7MWs intermittent generator (Peak times)combined with storage of water for irrigation — Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.154.150.211 (talk) 00:36, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Auckland Hospital?[edit]

The link goes directly to the Hospital, telling you that it is among the largest in New Zealand with over 3,500 rooms with 710 beds and over 55,000 patients yearly. I think the listing in the "Power Station" section is because of the Diesel-Emergency Power generator(s) eevery hospital in the "richer" countries has? 3.6 MW or 3,600 kW electric power generated by Diesel Generators or Gas Turbines?! Since they only write as fuel source "Gas/Diesel cogeneration", I do not know if they mean "gas" as people in America call Gasoline or Natural Gas? Last could be possible if Auckland is linked with a larger gas-network (if a city has natural gas for kitchens, or even heating, and power generation in power stations, than it has it, but also many areas don't have it, and they do not need it since they use different sources...

So is this a ~3.6 MW Gas Turbine?! However I will add this to the Auckland Hospital article, 3,600 kW seems to be a lot for New Zealand... in fact its enough to give power to far over 1,000 househoulds if not more, maybe 10,000 people or more use 3.6 MW at once...charging smartphone/tablet is a joke, if you got better light bulbs like we have in Europe, than light is also only very low, except still "old Edison" bulbs are used.... Any Info?! Greetings Kilon22 (talk) 16:41, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Kilon22:: The facility is three reciprocating engines: two running on natural gas and one on diesel. The two gas engines provide heat for the hospital's central heaing as well as hot standby power for the hospital (with excess going into the national grid). The diesel engine is a standard cold standby diesel generator as found in any major hospital. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 04:31, 13 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your fast answer and details. My other questions like costs of oil products I will have to google or find them maybe here on Wikipedia ;) I guess high because of transportation to "Oceania", taxes already create a price per liter/gallon without any oil costs included so far, I will see... only good thing is that it seems the 2 Islands have each its own major city in which most population is living and increasing slowly... List of wind farms[edit]

I've initiated (hopefully) a discussion at Talk:Wind power in New Zealand about the list of wind farms - both pages have differing lists of these. In my opinion, verifying, amalgamating, and moving the list to a stand-alone List of wind farms in New Zealand (currently a redirect) would make sense. Please comment at Talk:Wind power in New Zealand. Grutness...wha? 22:51, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
