Concept[edit]

Rather than stuff each of these into subcategories, I figured that this information was more useful when arranged into a list page with tables. This allows easy view of comparative information, for example, contrast the typical size of a coal powered station with a hydro or wind station. Webaware 07:55, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1MW floor on list candidates[edit]

I have set a minimum of 1MW generation capacity for power stations on this list. This is pretty arbitrary, but there needs to be a cutoff somewhere, otherwise you get the situation where either every power generation construction is listed, or private installations of some magnitude aren't listed, neither of which are desirable. I figure that 1MW is starting to contribute considerably to the generation capacity of the state as a whole. Webaware 11:05, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds reasonable to me. SimonJones 12:51, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

18 MW Liddell biomass turbine[edit]

As far as I can tell, there isn't such a thing. Liddell does burn some timber waste in its main boilers, but there's no separate biomass boiler or turbine. SimonJones 12:28, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looking into this further, it seems that you're right. Liddell has a license to "co-fire plant biomass and coal to produce electricity."[1][2], but it does that in its main boilers. I'll add that to the Liddell article. Cheers, Webaware 07:02, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tallawarra is a new 400 MW combined cycle natural gas powered station that is completed and will be commissioned soon - I don't have an actual date yet.

Once commissioned, I propose:

  1. Adding a new section here and on Template:EnergyNSW for Combined Cycle containing Tallawarra.
  2. On Template:EnergyNSW, also adding the owner/operator TRUenergy under Companies, although it is headquartered in Melbourne Vic.

Any comments or objections ? - Grogan deYobbo (talk) 02:49, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tallawarra Power Station should be placed in Gas fired power stations since I don't see the point in having a Combined Cycle section when it's fired by natural gas. Does TRUenergy provide power in New South Wales (other then producing it of course)? Bidgee (talk) 02:57, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough - I can place in the Gas turbine and Gas fired power stations sections respectively. By "provide power in NSW" I assume you mean "retail electricity to NSW end-users" ? I suspect TRUenergy does, but I will confirm that this week. Either way I think you are saying that this is the criteria for inclusion in the Companies section of Template:EnergyNSW. I wasn't clear what the criteria was, and assumed it included generation. - Grogan deYobbo (talk) 03:18, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oops - just noticed the table in section Gas turbine has a column Combined cycle, so of course it should be included there. - Grogan deYobbo (talk) 03:26, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Glenbawn Dam hydro-electric capacity.[edit]

It’s not listed on here, but Glenbawn dam has a hydro electric generator. Not sure where the info is available for it.
