obviously i've seen it, ok? can we talk about a sensible interpretation of it? if you want to have a footnote for every person on this list when that information should be sourced in the person's article, it's going to make it absolutely not one whit more verifiable, and it's just going to clutter it up with a lot of irrelevant sources whose only purpose is to verify manifest facts. the template makes the list look ugly, and it's going to sit up there for years unless someone spends hours transferring sources from the individual articles linked to over here, and all we will have gained is a bunch of ugly footnotes at the bottom.— alf.laylah.wa.laylah (talk) 16:07, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
p.s. excellent work on the columns. i didn't know that self-balancing trick; but the whole time i was fixing it i was thinking that there almost certainly has to be one.— alf.laylah.wa.laylah (talk) 16:08, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

something is not right

I don't know if it has anything got to do with the above, but the list is somewhat messy. For example, Nicki Minaj is listed as native two times, in M and N, and then non-natives again. And there are also some names added throughout the article. One example is Zaria Duncan who is in the "See also" section.
About one thing the above commenter is right. This tells it: Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a reliable source. If it is sourced, then the information with the source can be copied from its article. If not, it actually should not even be in Wikipedia at all. 82.141.93.49 (talk) 19:51, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

That Zaria Duncan actually seems not to be an actress. Searching the name with "imdb" results only this list. 82.141.93.49 (talk) 19:58, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

I just finished going through the "Natives" section.
Hildegarde, Nordstrom Sisters, Mary Travers and Vanessa L. Williams should be moved to "Non-natives" section.
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Nicki Minaj should only be removed from the "Natives" section, because they already have an entry on the other section.
Linda McCartney should be removed from "Non-natives" section, she's also in the "Natives" section and every source confirms it.
Might do these myself if/when I have time. 82.141.66.2 (talk) 19:37, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Question about the division in this list

I understand the distinction of having two lists: one for non-native New Yorkers and those who were born and raised there. However, making one of these sections include "from or living in" rather than just "born in NYC" kind of makes the two sections mean the exact same thing. Someone might be currently living in New York City, but also be "non-native." Perhaps this seems nitpicky, but I kind of thought that was the point of having an encyclopedia anyone can edit. I will go ahead and "boldly" as it were edit this section title until I see a good reason not to. Littledj95 (talk) 05:55, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

And there are errors. Above section has a few mentioned, and I just noticed Olivia Wilde is listed as non-native, while her article has NYC as her birthplace. Her article also has some sources, while this list has not. 85.76.162.104 (talk) 13:50, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
