Name of this list[edit]

The Name of this list may be "List of mosques in America" or "List of mosques in North- and South-America" but NOT "List of mosques in the western hemisphere". --Ahmadi2 (talk) 18:39, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain why? The term "western hemisphere" is very clear. Normally when people refer to "America" (no "s") they mean the United States of America. That's why America is a disambiguation page, and Americas is an article. Alternatively, we could rename it List of mosques in the Americas as that would be clearer. Also, why do North and South America have to be merged in one article? Why not just split this? Anyhow, I'd appreciate hearing you're reasoning, instead of just saying what you think are the options. --Rob (talk) 19:04, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
1) Are you able to read? So it is clear written "List of mosques in North- and South-America"!!!
2) Where is no continent or categorie named "western hemisphere"! Or Europe is not "western hemisphere"? But it is an own list.
3) So for what a list naming "List of mosques in the western hemisphere"?
4) America is from Canada in the north up to Chile in the south. Can you explain why you think that "America" means only the USA?!?? --Ahmadi2 (talk) 19:47, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You may wish to read the article on Americas. The term "America" regularly refers to just the USA (Particularly so in Canada and the USA). If you call somebody American, you don't mean they're Canadian or from Chile. God Bless America does not mean God Bless Chile to Canada. If "America" refers to North and South America, it's almost always phrased as "the Americas". You put in hyphens, yet hyphense are never used. Nobody writes "North-America" or "South-America". Note we use a category called Category:Americas, but explicitly do not use Category:America, as it's deemed ambiguous. I think a simply and obvious compromise here is to rename this List of mosques in the Americas. --Rob (talk) 20:13, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
