Missing Information[edit]

There is mention of a Republican mayor having presided during the Reconstruction Era, on the unreliable secondary source The Military Wiki, but I do not know which of the early officeholders it could be. It is unlikely to be John O. Mouton, that family was heavily involved in the Democratic Party, nor does it seem likely to be M. P. Young because his tenure took place ten years after the end of Reconstruction. I suspect Neveu or Smith, but nothing has come about to definitively link either to Republican politics. This search is frustrated by the local newspapers discussing national politics along party lines while there is almost no information on local affiliations, and I have been unable to find a declaration of mayoral election. It could be that the Republican administration was under the old city council government prior to the 1869 amendment.

Furthermore, if someone knows exactly when the changeover took place that the city commission was replaced by the current consolidated city-parish government, please include that information with appropriate citations. BayouMagnolia (talk) 22:48, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
