No Britannia survivors attack?[edit]

It's been widely reported that the Britannia incident where a Giant Squid killed a surviving crew member of a sunken ship actually happened, and while I find the details to be rather vague I do generally believe it happened. While I made a post on the talk forums for Cephalopod attack questioning the extent that a giant squid would attack a person and how it could be on par with the potential of a shark attack, I can't deny that the Britannia incident was a myth given the amount claims have been made about it. Is there any reason it's not mentioned here?

Dyer (2020) did a pretty good job of debunking this story. However, as you say, it has been widely reported and is therefore notable in its own way. For this reason it is mentioned as an excluded sighting in a footnote to the main list. mgiganteus1 (talk) 14:33, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
