Inclusion criteria[edit]

The current list is very unbalanced with much lower magnitude earthquakes and/or lower intensity events included in more recent years - 44 in the last 20 years compared to 27 in the 20 years before that, 19 in the 20 years before that and 31 in the 350 years before that. In common with other "by country" lists, this list should be restricted to earthquakes over magnitude 6 or that have significant impact on the country in terms of damage or deaths/injuries.
