Approach[edit]

Hi,

There seems to be a duplication of information so I scouted around in Category:Lists of awards by actor to see if there's a standard approach.

  • It seems like the standard approach is to show nominations and awards like Tom Hanks and Ben Affleck's lists, with tables within subsections by awarding associations. I particularly like Tom Hanks' list because it breaks out major awards from other awards, but that's just a thought.
  • Another option to individual tables by award association, though, is a large table with a column for the awarding group and make it sortable - which would allow readers to get a chronological and awarding group listing by sorting. In other words, modifying the existing large table a bit.

Is there a preference or another option that is better?--CaroleHenson (talk) 20:53, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck with the project! While you're cleaning up the awards, notice that both Tom Hank and Ben Affleck pages don't have references for each award, nor do they link to the specific award ceremony, both of which in my opinion is bad. Hope you add those while you're cleaning this page. I'd go for a "Ref" column at the end. As for your question, I have no take on which style is better.--Gonnym (talk) 22:40, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I did notice the missing refs and links. I like your idea about adding a column for the citations! Thanks for the input.--CaroleHenson (talk) 22:48, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Regional awards[edit]

Remaining awards that seem to be regional...

Year of eligibility Film Award
1997 Good Will Hunting Florida Film Critics Circle Award for Newcomer of the Year
Humanitas Prize Feature Film Category (shared with Ben Affleck)[1]

Should any of these awards have their own section in the article / list? Does anyone want to add them?--CaroleHenson (talk) 08:56, 5 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you should stay with one style for the whole article, so either AWARD PRESENTER and its categories or FILM and its nominations and wins, doing both just makes the article look bad in my opinion. Also, just my 2 cents here, but Empire (full disclosure: which I've been working on its articles myself) is as a regional award as the MTV/Teen choice awards are (not regional). --Gonnym (talk) 18:19, 5 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, but if your thought was that I was going to plung this table back in the article, that's not what I've been doing. I've been integrating the information together in one format. See this version of the article before I started working on it.
Cool, thanks for the clarification about the "Empire" award. I also had some input from WP Film project talk page that if there's an article, it's notable enough to include -- so I think most of these will be put into the new format -- in the article page in a bit. Thanks!--CaroleHenson (talk) 20:51, 5 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Moved Empire over to an article section + London and Chicago + more bite the dust.--CaroleHenson (talk) 21:39, 5 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
all  Done--CaroleHenson (talk) 22:00, 5 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
