Federal designations[edit]

A note was added regarding National Historic Events and Persons, as they are part of a three-prong federal designation system. A person wishing to see whether a particular subject is federally commemorated would be assisted knowing about the other two lists. Often, what someone might assume to be a Site is actually an Event, and so it does not appear on a particular Sites list. It also happens in the reverse. Also, the public plaques associated with each of the three designations do not clarify whether one is a Site, Event, or Person, and sometimes persons' names on the markers actually identify a Site or Event. It is helpful to have a note to alert readers to this. After some discussion, which included Skeezix1000, I believe consensus was reached that such notes were appropriate. They were added to the National Historic Events and Persons pages some time ago, and would be similarly helpful on Sites pages. Based on that, I'm reinserting the text. And because this page is about NHS's in Toronto, there is a note about Bead Hill, which is anticipated to become the only NHS in Toronto in the national park system.
