Anachronisms[edit]

There is a tendency to write articles using modern names for places, and modern flags for times, when such were not current. Example: the 1964 test in "Mumbai". The 1964 test was played in Bombay - the name Mumbai was not then current, and records of the match will be recorded under the name of the 1964 Bombay test. The same applies to Chennai in 1956 (known as the 1956 Madras Test), and Kolkata in 1972 (known as the 1972 Calcutta Test). I'm sure there are other instances. Similarly, the current Indian flag was adopted in 1947; prior to that the Red Ensign was in use for international events including sports. In the Wikipedia Olympic articles, the flag of the time of the event is used. This principle should apply across the board, including in cricket articles.
