A&F as the prototypical example

Wouldn't cigarette marketing be a better example? It's more time tested, and it seems to highlight how people respond to lifestyle brands, even when they market products with numerous caveats.

The way Edward Bernays marketed cigarettes to women as a "symbol of emancipation" is certainly the first and by far the most influential example of lifestyle marketing. The concept of lifestyle brands is derived from that initial campaign, which tapped into and shaped people's desires. I'm sure a decent section could be written about that, but imho the entire "article" should be rewritten. --89.0.233.182 (talk) 16:51, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
