Edit conflicts[edit]

Hello Kingfisher. We are both editing the article simultaneously. I am going to stop for now, as I don't want to mess up any of your improvements to the content. Between the two of us, I think the article is more cleaned up and better organized than it was an hour ago! I apologize for getting tangled up in editing conflicts with you. No ill-will was intended!--FeralOink (talk) 21:44, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks FeralOink, all yours. I'm done for the day. "That's what she said." The Kingfisher (talk) 22:34, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Discuss on talk[edit]

Hi Phillip Samuel, it's great to be WP:BOLD, but generally, controversial edits like yours should first be discussed. A few problems with your good faith edits and why I am reverting:

  • Your summaries are misleading. Reformatting is like FeralOink’s edit. You not only did a complete ce, you removed headings and merged sections.
  • Merging Kerry and Soleimani into a few paragraphs does not work. Although it started that way, the major part of this story is about Kerry and the reactions. In fact, if it continues, this page will most likely be renamed to include Kerry. Even your new formatt shows the problems. Only in your “Leaked audiotape” section does it mention Soleimani, thereafter, he is never mentioned and every section and line is about Kerry. Kerry is the primary story, Soleimani secondary.
  • Without adding Ned Price’s statements (that you have below under the “Biden administration” and which should be added) as context, your “Confidentiality concerns” section is on the cusp of being WP:NOR

The Kingfisher I have mixed thoughts on this, I'm tempted to make a requested move to partly resolve your issues.
    • if you want me to clarify my summaries, I don't mind doing so, normally users view revision history regardless. I usually treat the words in my summaries as umbrella terms.
    • From reading your response, I am slightly confused about what you intended in creating this article. If you intended to describe the leaked audiotape in general, then all of the content should be placed together, followed by reactions. If you are instead focusing on Kerry's alleged disclosure of classified information, then this page should be renamed to reflect that, and all other irrelevant content should either be put aside or removed. Splitting the contents into Kerry and Soleimani and splitting the reactions would be confusing to a reader who looks at the present title.
    • Ned Price's statements and those of the Israli intelligence officials are from the same (CNN) article, and as each quote was individually cited, WP:NOR is irrelevant.

Proposed moves[edit]

In light of an ongoing dispute regarding the focus of this article, I intend to request a move from a consensus-based name. Before doing so, I am proposing some names that we could discuss first.

  • Title 1 Leaked Mohammad Javad Zarif audiotape - Focusing on the audiotape in general
  • Title 2 John Kerry's alleged disclosure of classified information - Focusing on John Kerry's disclosure and its repercussions. Similar to Donald Trump's disclosures of classified information except the disclosure is alleged (news and govt haven't confirmed it yet). Majority of news sources are centering on John Kerry's part.

Please use the following format for choosing the title you want

  • Title # _____

Also if anyone wants to add another title, you can add Title 3 in the same format and so on. Phillip Samuel (talk) 18:14, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep name, for now: I believe that it is still too early for a name change. We don't yet know what direction this will take and there is ample material to build out the Soleimani section. I propose that we keep editing the sections prior to any name change. The Kingfisher (talk) 18:55, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
