The result of the move request was: not moved - there is a clear consensus not to move. (non-admin closure) Lennart97 (talk) 13:00, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

– The disambiguation is entirely unnecessary, as there's already a hatnote to the athlete's article. Chessrat (talk, contributions) 11:09, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Laura Trott titles a page with content and so it must also be dispositioned. If this request is granted, then Laura Trott may be deleted or moved to Laura Trott (disambiguation) and tagged with {{One other topic}} in accordance with WP:ONEOTHER. • Oppose The cyclist was known as Laura Trott for most of her career, and her article gets more pageviews. Google results results are mixed between the cyclist and politician when searching "Laura Trott". The current dab page is justified, as per WP:NOPRIMARY. 162 etc. (talk) 14:27, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per WP:TWODABS, we disambiguate topics, not article titles. For most of the athlete's career, her name was Laura Trott, making disambiguation necessary. IffyChat -- 14:29, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per WP:TWODABS, no WP:PRIMARYTOPIC.--Ortizesp (talk) 14:32, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per 162 etc., Iffy★Chat and Ortizesp. There are 53 inline cites in the athlete's article and virtually all refer to her as "Laura Trott". —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 20:46, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose The cyclist was known as Laura Trott for most of her career, and her article gets more pageviews. @Chessrat: suggest you withdraw this RM. In ictu oculi (talk) 22:04, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment- I'm surprised by all the "oppose" reactions- didn't expect such a move to be controversial at all. Having said that, I still think a move would be a good idea, as most google results and google news results are for the politician, and it seems like the athlete is most commonly known by her married surname. Chessrat (talk, contributions) 23:12, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • Comment - We are not to be moved by the news, else Jane Seymour's WP:PRIMARYTOPIC would be an actress and not the favourite wife of Henry VIII. If you say the "athlete" is more known by her married surname, go to the section "Major results" on her article, and count how many are before or after her September 2016 wedding. Tip: the 2016 Olympics were a little before. Unknown Temptation (talk) 21:39, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The cyclist is much better known and is probably better known under her maiden name than her married name. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:29, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong oppose - The cyclist had Olympic golds at two games, plus a load of other medals, under the name Laura Trott. To bring up a comparison, if Muhammad Ali were still alive, you wouldn't make a politician be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for Cassius Clay just for being the one currently using the name.
