Creation of separate article[edit]

Before today, the article name of Lake Wylie automatically redirected to Lake Wylie, South Carolina. Although the landing article had a section on the lake, the article's primarily focus was on the town in York County. I removed the redirect, thereby starting this newly separate article for the following reasons:

  1. The vast majority of articles linking to the term Lake Wylie were talking about the lake named Lake Wylie, not the town of Lake Wylie, SC. In order to avoid confusion and stop sending people in the wrong direction, the two subjects needed to be separated into different articles, one focusing on the lake and the other focusing on the town.
  2. It was incorrect and misleading to refer to the lake itself as "Lake Wylie, South Carolina" (the article's title) because parts of the lake are in North Carolina too.

I have copied and pasted the content of the Lake Wylie, South Carolina article here just as a starting point but the predominant content about the town of Lake Wylie in York County will need to be removed and hopefully replaced with more lake specific content (no spam). --Fife Club 04:46, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
