Oldest bear[edit]

The death of the "50 year old" black bear is described just after "Lahore Zoo has been criticized...". However, if this bear was actually 50, then it was older than the oldest known captive bear (44 according toAsian Black Bear). If we can get good documentation on the age, it might be notable as the longest lived bear, but the fact that it died at 50 should not garner criticism. It probably doesn't belong under "Conservation" either. Basically, it died of "natural causes." Donlammers (talk) 18:58, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it was actually fifty years old but thats what the DAWN newspaper said. Yes, it does not belong under criticism. I think I will have to confirm its age by going to the zoo officials. Until then, we should remove info about the bear, I guess, or remove its age at least. Farjad0322 (talk) 19:10, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed references to this bear from both the conservation section (where it doesn't tie in), and the death section. I moved the reference to the 2006 female black bear death down to the death section, since it doesn't seem to have anything to do with conservation. I'm going to do some work on the conservation section over the next few days. Right now it sounds too much like "they tried but it didn't work." Donlammers (talk) 21:44, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Up-rating[edit]

I'm going to go ahead and make this B-class, as it passes all the criteria. My only personal reservation is the Conservation attempts section, which, as I say above, sounds a bit too much like "they were trying but it didn't work out." I just can't figure out what to do with it right now, but I think it's an issue that needs to be resolved before any attempt at Good Article Nomination.
