Unconvincing claims[edit]

I'm a sceptic about several of the claims made in this article. It is so very unlikely that such a communal activity, so widely spread throughout the Middle East and Asia, had a specific origin in one named family, or that we would know the name of that family, oh that's really too much. The sources are utterly insufficient to bear such an extraordinary claim. And I'm sure the origin of such a widespread craft goes back much further than the 18th century, though it's not an area where I have technical expertise.
