About the two CC. Laberii Prisci[edit]

It is suspicious that two men who were consuls so close together in time should have the same identical name. I double-checked the sources, & the existence of the second Laberius Priscus (cos. 150) is based on the restoration of the names of a pair of consuls in one of the Acta Arvalia, which reads [...]mus, C. La[...]. While other records make it certain that this does not refer to the pair of consuls of 142, it is possible that C. La[...] was a suffect consul with a different gentilicum. Because this is the restoration supported by the consensus of experts, it will remain so until more evidence is found. Nevertheless, some note of that this might be a bad restoration needs to be made, & IMHO here on the Talk page is sufficient for the moment. -- llywrch (talk) 16:47, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
