Red Knights[edit]

After looking around for this article I created Red Knights (organization) - unfortunately I did not think to search the alternate name for the organization until attempting to create the redirect. Would anyone object to merging this article into Red Knights (organization) and keeping this title as a redirect? Seraphim System (talk) 09:37, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Seraphim System: I believe:
  • the new article should merge/redirect here, as KotFC appears to be the main/original name (with the Red Knights as more of a nickname); a lesser factor is that this is the older page.
  • the 1800s Connecticut organisation should only be covered with a hatnote that redirects to Knights of Columbus (and be briefly covered there) as it is unrelated to this organisation.
  • the hatnote at Knights_of_Columbus#Conflict_with_the_Ku_Klux_Klan should be removed, as the KoC are a Catholic organisation which opposed the KKK in their own right, whereas the KotFC were a separate anti-KKK anti-Protestant organisation but were not exclusively Catholic. ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 12:19, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fine with merging into this article, but there should be a Red Knights redirect - major academic books on this topic use the term Red Knights and it is confusing to not find any article on this. Red Knights (organization) would not be useful as a redirect so I think the current Red Knights redirect which points to a section in an unrelated article should point here instead (since it is an alternate name for the main topic this article should have precedence for the redirect). Catholics[edit]

The article feels a bit disingenuous to me. It mentions the orders exepted anyone beside white protestants, which I don't dispute, but the article very strongly focuses on catholics and enphasize the anti-catholic bent of the clan. If it was in practice a catholic (immigrant and "native") order it should be stated. Jews are never mentioned and black people are only brought up to play down the racism against them. Do we know how many members of these groups joined the Red Knights?--Nngnna (talk) 12:46, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
