Relevance of mention of Acela?[edit]

There seems to be no relevance to the fact that the Acela Express does not stop at Kingston, something it cannot do anyway since their doors are configured for high platforms only. The Acela bypasses many stations on the Northeast Corridor. 71.173.14.251 (talk) 21:30, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kingston is unusual because it is located in the middle of the 150 mph zone, and trains actually pass through at full speed. At most other non-stopping stations there is some speed restriction due to lower track speeds or due to high-level platforms. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 22:21, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article name[edit]

Shouldn't the article be named Kingston (Amtrak station) to keep it in line with other station articles? I tried getting it moved to that name but it failed. Geoking66_talk 03:35, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Museum[edit]

The article mentions that the Railroad Museum is gone, with a "citation needed." I visited the station this week, the ticket taker confirmed that the museum is closed. I edited the wording in the article. I found a citation about the museum being open, but no citations confirming the closure. Forth Track/Siding Notability[edit]

During my most recent trip from Boston to Atlanta via New York, I'd noticed that a fourth track that isn't adjacent to either of the platforms at Kingston appeared to be present at the station. After looking at Google Maps and Earth, the fourth track does appear (Google Earth image provided), but it seemed to be a passing siding that connects to the third track (on the northern end of the island platform) just beyond both ends of the platform. Is this notable to state on the page? I'm not sure when it was added as I can't find cited material that references it at present.

I do intend on taking the Boston-Atlanta trip again at the end of the month as I'm moving, so I'll try to get a photo of the siding myself if it's deemed notable. Pokemonred200 (talk) 18:08, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch! I believe it's either a runaround for service to the adjacent freight siding, or a siding for track maintenance equipment. When I get around to bumping the article up to GA quality, I'll try to find a source. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 05:49, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
