Reveal?[edit]

The first play includes perhaps the most self-revealing exchange in all of Dennis Potter's work. A fellow patient in hospital asks Feeld if he likes 'gardens,' and Feeld replies, "I like the word 'garden'."

How is that self-revealing? I'm not a big fan of Potter so perhaps I'm missing something David 16:01, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

Potter is one of the most cryptic and complex playwrights of all time. His love of his childhood environs of the Forest of Dean, and natural settings (e.g. Blue Hills Remembered) is the clue here. He is highly cryptic and proves the point by re-doing criticized scenes metaphorically in later plays. Brimstone and Treacle criticisms of the rape scene are cleverly symbolically reconstructed in the advertising executives "rape" scene in Black Eyes. Play or miniseries ?[edit]

This was a four part miniseries, running to 200 minutes in total. Surely Karaoke (miniseries) is more accurate ? -- Beardo 06:52, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
