Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Kadmat Island. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:

GA removed[edit]

So, this is a GA? Really?

  • "Measuring 9.3 kilometres (5.8 mi) in length, the island has a lagoon with a width of 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) covering an area of 25 square kilometres (9.7 sq mi). "
  • The lagoon on the western side of the island [7] extends over a maximum width of 2 kilometres (1.2 mi)[8] covering an area of 37 square kilometres (14 sq mi)[6]"

The area in the first sentence (from the lead), is that supposed to be the area of the lagoon or the area of the island? If the first, then it contradicts the second sentence I quoted; if the second, then it is simply impossible. An island of 9.3 km length and max 550m width has at most an area of 4km². As for the lagoon, if it is 2 km wide and 37km² area, then it should be at least 19km long. Which is weird for a lagoon of a 9km long island.

  • "It is in the shape of a tear drop, with 3.5 square kilometres (1.4 sq mi) area and is located on a coral reef." Both [1] and [2] claim a 3.2 km² area (both sources are used in the article, so it's not as if I had to look elsewhere for contradictory information).
  • "Kadmat Island is bounded by Kavaratti Island to its northwest" Really? According to the source[3], "the island of Kadmat[...] lies 67 km northeast from the island of Kavaratti".
  • " It is in the shape of a tear drop". Not really, no.
  • "the central most island of the Lakshadweep archipelago" Says who?
  • "The only inhabited village on the island is Kadmat, which had a population of 5,389 according to 2011 census." No, the whole island is officially one village and has 5,389 inhabitants, of which a smaller number live in so-called Kadmat Village
  • " In 2001, the literacy rate was 87.88 percent of which male literacy rate was 91.78 and female literacy was 92.53;" How is this even possible? Male 91, Female 92, but average still only 87?

The history of the island? Nothing between the Romans and 1998? First primary school in 1925, religion (first Hindu, then islam), ... Or that the peole of Kadmat came originally from Amini and that it was under the rule of Amini for a long time. Or that it had a leper colony. Information on this and a lot more can be found in [4] and [5] which e.g. gives the size of the lagoon as a much more likely 13.4 km².

This article needs a thorough, line-by-line check and expansion to become a GA. Fram (talk) 12:21, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
