Merge with KK Olimpija[edit]

Since the team is still active in Ljubljana and in the same arena, as well as the same logo, should we merge this article with KK Olimpija? --H-Hurry (talk) 20:27, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No, KK Cedevita Olimpija is legally a completely new team, at least this is what Slovenian media has reported. They cannot simply merge two clubs into one and keep both histories and everything, especially since they are not from the same country / managed by the same basketball association. While it is legally a new club, the history and honours of both clubs belong to this one as well. The proof is in the fact that Cedevita Olimpija has aquired Cedevita Zagreb's spot in the EuroCup and the ABA League. We can't cherrypick if this is the case, can we? Based on that fact alone, the history and honours should be merged as well. QuinlanLJ (talk) 08:14, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

They got a wild card or invitation or something just like you can get everything as a wild card in corrupted basketball, you can even buy yourself a licence or invitation if you want. And if they actually get Cedevita's place, then you should merge Cedevita's history there, not Olimpija's history. See Slovenian company register, the two clubs are registered as a completely different entities: KK Olimpija Ljubljana, KK Cedevita, with one being registered on 30.9.1976 (the so-called "Portoroški sklepi" from 1976, in which every sports team in Slovenia should get registered as a company in that year), while the KK Cedevita is registered on 27.6.2019, clearly two different teams and legal objects. That "KK Olimpija" will most likely play in Slovenian U19 league and below, while Cedevita Olimpija will technically not have any youth selections, so KK Olimpija and Cedevita Junior would be affiliated teams for Cedevita Olimpija. We will see here when the teams would be added, I bet that the team competing in 2019-20 U19 league would not be called "Cedevita", but only Olimpija. There are articles for the Seattle SuperSonics and the Oklahoma City Thunder even this is the same franchise. Also, there is an example for NBA G League team (Dakota Wizards/Santa Cruz Warriors). Therefore, I don't see any reason to merge articles of KK Cedevita and KK Olimpija into one article. --IndexAccount (talk) 10:32, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is not true. Cedevita Olympia continues the legal status and existence of Olympia, which can be seen on the website[1]. Also on eurocup website you can see the history of the club that means that is not new club, but the club with history and trophy's. Therefore, this article is unnecessary --Bobik (talk) 18:43, 17 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
