explanation[edit]

I was concerned over this edit, which I believe introduced inaccuracies.

It is true that Obama has replaced Bush. I do not believe it is true that the Obama administration has taken a position as to whether to leave intact the Bush policy of classifying the captives as "enemy combatants". Maybe the Obama administration will leave intact this aspect of the Bush detainee policy. And when this is announced the article can be updated to reflect that.

So I reverted it.

Further, as I have argued elsewhere, calling the captives "detainees" is not neutral. We are not supposed to take sides. "Detainee" inappropriately implies there legitimacy to the captives' detention. As I have stated elsewhere "captive" is a more neutral compromise. Geo Swan (talk) 22:43, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have reviewed your edits. Please be advised that ascribing a legal definition to an individual President and his administration, as opposed to a nation as a whole, is itself a violation of POV. Please be further advised that describing someone as a "captive" is also a violation of POV, and is not neutral. Given these facts, I will be making appropriate changes to the article to achieve neutrality. Thank you.--Yachtsman1 (talk) 22:54, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
