Issues[edit]

I did some work on the article and left some maintenance templates. Key issues:

  • In a few places (infobox birth name and father's name, a caption, and one ambiguous piece of prose), his surname was written "Knights" instead of "Knight". Since there was no mention of a name change, I assumed these to be typos and changed them.
  • The second 'graph at John Knight (soap maker)#Early life seems mis-placed and duplicative of later material. It should probably be merged into that later material.
  • The article seems to be mostly about the companies, not about Knight himself. Shouldn't the article title reflect that?
  • Find-a-Grave should not be used as a source (see WP:RS/P#Find_a_Grave).

WikiTree[edit]

@Knight1817: I see you added WikiTree as a source for his mother's name. Looking at it, though, it appears (unsurprisingly) that it is a wiki without qualities like fact-checking and editorial oversight required of reliable sources. I didn't see any citable or verifiable sources on the page, either. This opinion is confirmed by previous discussions here and at Wikipedia talk:Reliable sources/Perennial sources#WikiTree just recently. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 06:49, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
