Untitled[edit]

This piece seems to be a reprint of the subject's website. It leaves out the long history of labor problems (poor working conditions, minimum wage violations) and fines at some of his markets, and an almost maniac aversion to various recycling laws, especially in New York City.

I'm a wiki-noob, but he was quoted in a NYT article today on Clinton's campaign:

“It’s a lot more than anyone expected two months ago,” Mr. Catsimatidis said. “President Clinton is a competitive guy, and he has said himself that the March 31 fund-raising deadline was the first primary.” This guy is a liar cheat and crook

Another logical question would be, if he was nominated for West Point, how was he able to avoid military service and the intense pressure of the Vietnam draft? Fixing references[edit]

Someone changed the references to just numbers instead of the correct format. I've been taking a couple of minutes every few days and fixing them. As you noted, someone dumped a hefty chunk of cut-and-paste into this article (I suspect they wrote it offline using some template, and then just uploaded it...).

Ethnicity and Birthplace/Prior Nationality in Lead[edit]

Recently there has been a user who has been editing the lead and breaking the three revert-rule regarding the addition of the phrase "Greek-" to the lead. As it has been pointed out many times before by multiple users, per WP:Ethnicity/MOS:Ethnicity, place of birth, prior nationality, ethnicity, etc. are not included in the lead unless directly relevant to notability. This individual's notability occurred in the United States as a U.S. citizen. Appropriately, then, per wikipedia guidelines for biography leads, we would not include the phrase "Greek-" within the lead prior to this individual's American nationality. Personally i don't care whether the lede is changed to "American billionaire". But as a sidenote, since he was born in Greece and left for the States when he was just 6 months old, i would presume that he also holds Greek citizenship, which would justify "Greek-American billionaire" in the lede per MOS:CONTEXTBIO. Yes, I see your point, although whether he has dual citizenship is regardless of where he was born, as there are people who were not born in Greece who may also have dual citizenship with Greece and another country. However, I don't think we have any sources attesting that he retains Greek citizenship (at least none I am aware of), whereas we have at least one clear source: https://www.forbes.com/profile/john-catsimatidis/?sh=29d2be114a30 that states he has United States citizenship.   • Unless Catsimatidis' current Greek citizenship/nationality is supported by reliable sources then it shouldn't be in the article, let alonE the lead. Per WP:CONTEXTBIO "previous nationalities or the place of birth should not be mentioned in the lead unless they are relevant to the subject's notability". In order to be compliant with BLP policy, the contested Greek citizenship/nationality should be excluded unless there are multiple reliable sources both confirming the information and, due to scope of coverage, its particular relevance.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 23:06, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
