BLP warning[edit]

The notice above about Biographies of Living People is part of Wikipedia policy. It took me one second to find something positive about John Burris on the web, and it turns out this little itty bitty non-negative thing was in some of the articles used to fill this BLP. For some reason this article is heavily weighted towards the negative about Burris. Try to at least pretend it's an article about the man not against the man. --KP Botany (talk) 13:05, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There were lots of positive things in the bio. I have no objection to the addition. THF (talk) 13:14, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality, and which particular State, is encyclopedic information[edit]

I am concerned that it is considered that Oakland only is considered sufficient information for determining the location of a subject. This isn't the California encyclopedia, nor even the North American version, but the English speaking Encyclopedia - and as long as I am compelled to note that Truro is a city within Cornwall, England, United Kingdom (as everyone around where I live knows!) I see no reason why the full address (city, state and nation) should not be used in US based articles. For one thing, such information aids the Google and other search functions. It's been corrected, hopefully by you. Also one of my pet peeves, even when it's a city I live in. --KP Botany (talk) 02:56, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

disclaimer[edit]

A user just added a disclaimer to the article to the effect that the State of California doesn't specifically recognize Mr. Burris' "specialty." I don't think it was implied that they did, it was merely a statement of the fact that this is the kind of case this guy specializes in, so I removed the disclaimer. It also seems like a deliberate attempt to discredit Mr. Burris, so is a POV problem as well. Beeblebrox (talk) 01:50, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
